How to Identify Barriers to the Adoption of Sustainable Agriculture? A Study Based on a Multi-Criteria Model

The world’s population grows yearly, so increasing food production is necessary, to meet consumer demands. This must be clean; thus, sustainable agriculture seems represent a solution. However, social, economic, and environmental barriers impede the adoption of this practice. Therefore, research identified these barriers, according sustainability triple-bottom line through literature review, analyzed which are more influential vulnerable influences, using Fuzzy DEMATEL method, as well by considering opinions 30 mixed crop producers. As result, eleven were identified; “technical knowledge qualified workforce” was most on not adopting agriculture. A multi-criteria model provided could replicated in further research. Thus, practices provided, minimize barriers’ negative impacts assist producers; highlighting investment policies for training farmers have technical practice Theoretical implications reviewed, such an analysis found lack studies reporting difficulty producers agriculture, practical providing assistance transferring knowledge, eliminate that can efficiently implemented.
